National Consumer Scholars
Leadership development for advocates with lived experience of complex care needs
Building the complex care field Community & consumer engagement Education & training Quality improvement
Since 2016, our National Consumer Scholars program has facilitated partnerships between organizations across the country and individuals with lived experience.
All of our National Consumer Scholars have first-hand experience living with or caring for someone with complex health and social needs as well as experience working as consumer advocates/advisors/experts in their community.
Over the course of their engagement with us, Consumer Scholars:
- take part in leadership and skills development and peer-to-peer learning activities,
- partner with Camden Coalition staff on a variety of projects to strengthen and inform our work and the field of complex care, and
- play an active role at the annual Putting Care at the Center conference with the goal of bringing lessons back to their local communities.
As with all our community engagement initiatives, we endeavor to make the National Consumer Scholars program a mutually beneficial experience. We do this by supporting the work and building the capacity of Scholars to affect change in their home communities and across the country, and by benefiting and learning from their partnerships with us as a complex care organization.
The National Consumer Scholars program is made possible with financial support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF).
