Competing healthcare systems and complex patients: An inter-professional collaboration to improve outcomes and reduce healthcare costs describes how collaboration between competing healthcare systems to care for a shared population of patients with complex health and social needs can lead to both improved outcomes and reduced costs. The authors show that patients with complex health and social needs benefit from a continuum of care both within and between healthcare institutions.
