As medications for addiction treatment (MAT) have become increasingly essential tools for reducing overdose deaths, primary care providers have begun prescribing MAT in outpatient settings. Beginning in February 2020, the Camden Coalition has held biweekly office hours for MAT providers and partners in New Jersey so they can learn from each other on topics such as federal and state policy changes during the pandemic, updates regarding community resources, and referral pathways between different levels of services. 

In partnership with the Better Care Playbook, the Camden Coalition has published a blog post and Better Care Play synthesizing lessons from these conversations:

• “Adapting medications for addiction treatment programs in response to COVID-19,” outlines how access to MAT and access to community-based harm reduction services are changing in this new environment.
• “Implementing a harm reduction approach to medications for addiction treatment (MAT) in outpatient settings” provides actionable steps toward creating a more harm reduction-oriented approach for practices providing MAT in non-behavioral health clinics.
