Providers, community leaders celebrate accountable care in Camden
Camden-area health care providers and community leaders gathered in October at the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center to celebrate the Camden Coalition ACO. Part of a statewide demonstration project, the Camden Coalition ACO brings together health care providers, community organizations, and city residents to deliver better care at lower cost through coordinated, efficient care for local residents enrolled in Medicaid.
The evening was a celebration of the many individuals and organizations who worked together to draft and pass New Jersey’s 2011 legislation establishing the framework for the state’s first Medicaid ACOs, and the Camden area institutions and practices who have come together to form the city’s Accountable Care Organization. Three communities, Camden, Trenton and Newark, were certified by the state in 2015.
Dartmouth business professor and innovation expert Chris Trimble, author of How Physicians Can Fix Health Care: One Innovation at a Time, delivered the evening’s keynote address. Trimble shared insights on the new frontiers of health care delivery, and how doctors can become leaders in creating solutions to health care’s toughest, most expensive problems.
