Trust is an essential component of all relationships, including the relationship between care providers and recipients of care. Trust and trustworthiness are frequently discussed topics in the field of complex care, and there are many strategies that healthcare providers can employ to build trust, including building partnerships with patients and community members.
In this webinar, National Consumer Scholars Lawrence Lincoln, Carl Boyd, and Angela James, who bring a variety of lived and professional experiences, discussed the concept of “the ecosystem of trust” by describing the ways trust can be built and reinforced through the provision of patient-centered care, inclusion of people with lived experience as care team members, and centering lived experience in the design and delivery of care on a programmatic and system level. The session also discussed the many benefits to patient partnerships, including how they can be a pathway to well-being, and will also share strategies for building partnerships and help session attendees recognize how connecting to our shared humanity can build an ecosystem of trust that benefits all.
