Healthcare on wheels: How mobile clinics meet the complex health and social needs of patients

Care management & redesign SDOH & health equity

The COVID-19 pandemic has sparked innovation in models of healthcare delivery, including new and expanded use of mobile clinics. As an important part of an integrated care team, mobile clinics can address the complex health and social needs of patients by meeting patients where they are.

We welcomed Mollie Williams of Mobile Health Map, Rainelle Walker-White of The Family Van, and Kyla Rankin of Parkland Health. In this webinar, attendees heard about the important role community health workers (CHWs) who work aboard mobile clinics serve. Presenters also shared a conceptual framework that describes how mobile clinics can bolster business objectives of healthcare organizations including those related to organizational culture, workforce capacity, health equity, and community partnerships. By aligning the goals of mobile programs with broader organizational strategies, healthcare leaders can make a strong case that mobile clinics are both good for community health and good for business.
