Camden Coalition Medical-Legal Partnership: Year one analysis of civil + criminal MLP model in addiction medicine setting
Care management & redesign Strengthening ecosystems of care Behavioral health & addiction Legal & criminal justice Measurement & evaluation
This paper, written by our Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) team and our partners at Cooper Center for Healing, discusses early findings from the first year of our MLP being embedded in Cooper Center for Healing’s addiction medicine program. The authors discuss the efficacy of providing criminal-legal representation, which is uncommon among MLPs and critical for addiction medicine patients. It was published in the Journal of Medicine, Law, and Ethics’ winter 2023 issue on MLPs.
The paper concludes with takeaways for other programs providing or considering providing legal services in an addiction medicine setting.
